ALL SEASONS IN ONE DAY | Capsule Winter~Summer 2019 June 6, 2019 14:32
The capsule wardrobe dates back to the 1970’s to a London base boutique called Wardrobe. It is said to be a collection of few essential items of clothing that won’t necessarily outdate provided it is styled well with seasonal pieces.
This season KHIOMA essentially condenses her vision for this collection & introduces a take on her own interpretation of a minimalist, limited edition collection that encapsulates essential & influential pieces transcending seasons & trends for 2019. Khioma herself has always believed that less is so much more in quality & design. She understands that the future woman is fashion conscious, modern & inspired by art & tries to capture the spirit of the collection that is to be enjoyed wherever you are in the world.
Living in places like Cape Town where Khioma conceptualizes & produces her collections, one has no choice but to adapt in experiencing all seasons in one day! While her minimalist lifestyle is gaining traction, the trend seems to now be transcending into the area she holds dearest to her vocation, the clothing closet. With a faint & far cry of unworn & often low quality items, Khioma’s vision is rather a mini selection of versatile pieces that you will totally always want to wear. A unique combination of items you already lovingly own & new quality items that you have intentionally shopped for a few times a season.
KHIOMA’s capsule collection represents more time, money & energy for the things that matter most in life. By buying & choosing well you save on frivolous items that add up & get in the way of defining & understanding your true style. The idea is to own garments that can be worn in different ways therefore wearing individual items often & where quality fabric & yarn is chosen & is well made, will continue to look good with & in-spite of wear. But what we’re most excited for is the brand's move towards greater inclusivity of all aspect sustainable & the collection's staying power of high quality aesthetics. In the 21st century the general consensus is all about embracing the issues around sustainability, by being a predominantly feminine industry, it is a feminist issue after all.
Women in the fashion industry are now reclaiming their freedom as independent curators. Pushing through as entrepreneurs where they can learn & teach each other new & evolutionary skills. Khioma is mostly proud of her relatively new hand made knitwear range for women by women. In accent colours of mustard & forest green, as well as in monotones of white, ivory, sand, black, brown & grey. With each style interchangeable, so that pieces always co-ordinate & compliment each other in colour & in style!
